These New York City lawmakers are driving legislation directly affecting New York’s telecommunications sector. State Sen. Kevin Parker chairs the Committee on Energy and Telecommunications and also sits on the Committee on Internet and Technology. Parker’s telecommunications committee advanced the Comprehensive Broadband Connectivity Act requiring a study on broadband connectivity across New York, but the measure was vetoed. State Sen. Leroy Comrie has proposed mandating free internet service for low-income students and exploring the feasibility of burying internet and other utility lines.
